This commission was for a window in the master bedroom of a new barn conversion at Arne, near Wareham in Dorset.

Initial design discussions included the possibility of referencing the local environment and wildlife. However, Jude felt that the high location of the window meant that a pictorial motif in the window would not fit the overall design of the room.

The clients had previously seen some stained glass with agate slices incorporated into the design. Looking through Jude’s portfolio of previous work they also identified some abstract designs that they liked.

Jude was given considerable freedom to use line and colour in this design. Use of high-quality mouth-blown glass, combined with agates, roundels and lenses, was instrumental in creating a stunning result.
